Golf team wins Colby Classic
WATERVILLE, Maine --
Colby College golfers Greg Dupuy (Northern Heights/Allendale, N.J.) and Dave Salmon (Noble & Greenough/Sherborn, Mass.) combined for a 70 to earn the best score of the day in leading the Mules to a victory at the Colby Classic Golf Tournament at Waterville Country Club on Sunday.
Using a modified scoring system that features two-man teams playing six holes of best-ball, six holes of alternate shot and six holes of scramble, Colby finished with a team score of 219 to win easily win the tourney over Bates (228), Bowdoin (228) and Maine-Farmington (248).
William D. Younker II (Shrewsbury/Chatham, Mass.) and Eric Legere (Danvers/Danvers, Mass.) teamed up for a 72 for the Mules. Matt Wahl (Ann Arbor/Ann Arbor, Mich.) and Matt Aschaffenburg (Sharon/Sharon, Mass.) had a 77.
