Colby's Jamieson named to academic team
WATERVILLE, Maine --
Colby College senior football player Jeremy Jamieson (Stoneham/Stoneham, Mass) was named to the 2003 Academic All-District I College Division Football Team.
Jamieson, a psychology major at Colby, was one of four defensive backs named to the All-District I First Team. District I includes all NCAA Division III colleges from New York and New England.
Jamieson worked this past summer interning with Dr. Charles Hanson at the Greater Lowell Psychiatric Associates. The job involved visiting hospitals and nursing homes to treat patients via psychotropic medications or therapy.
Jamieson, who has participated with the Colby Cares Day for the past three years, is currently conducting his own experiment in evolutionary psychology entitled "Contagious Yawning and Social Interaction Style."
Jamieson has been on the Colby Dean's List every semester and is a member of Psi Chi, the National Honor Society of Psychology.
A key member of Colby's pass defense, Jamieson was tied for second on the team in interceptions in 2003 with two and was seventh in total tackles with 36. He helped Colby rank fourth in the New England Small College Athletic Conference in pass defense and total defense. Jamieson was fifth on the squad in total tackles with 28 during the 2002 season.
Jamieson has been on the NESCAC Fall All-Academic Team in 2002 and 2003. He earned Colby's Wadsworth Award as most improved player after the 2001 season.
