Women's lacrosse players named to New England Region team
WATERVILLE, Maine --
Colby College players Kim Jones (Governor Dummer/Wenham, Mass.), Emma Miller (Winsor School/Wellesley, Mass.) and Kate Wheeler (Garrison Forest/Baltimore, Md.) were all named to the Intercollegiate Women's Lacrosse Coaches Association (IWLCA) New England Region second team Friday.
Jones was one of the top defenders in the NESCAC and led the Mules with 64 ground balls and 44 caused turnovers. She was also second on the team in draw controls with 24. Jones, a junior, has 167 ground balls and 102 caused turnovers in three years of play.
Miller, also a junior, led Colby in scoring with 29 goals and 17 assists for 46 points. She also was first on the team in caused turnovers (26) and was third in draw controls (20). Miller has 56 goals and 28 assists for 84 career points in just 47 games played.
Wheeler, Colby's senior captain, was third on the squad in scoring with 25 goals and five assists for 30 points. She finished her career with 99 goals and 17 assists for 116 points. Wheeler also had 131 ground balls and 76 caused turnovers in her career. She led the Mules with 26 draw controls in 2004.
