Colby men's basketball loses season opener
WILLIMANTIC, Conn. --
Western New England battled back from a halftime deficit behind 18 points apiece from Anthony Charbatji and Dyshawn Thames to take an 84-76 victory over the Colby College men's basketball team in the opening round of Eastern Connecticut's Nancy Sulinski Memorial Tournament on Friday night.
Colby (0-1) received 21 points and seven rebounds from Nate Dick, who shot 8-for-15 from the floor. Nick Loukes added 19 points on 7-for-11 shooting, six rebounds and three assists. Matt Forlizzi had 13 points and Patrick McGowan had 10 points.
Western New England also got 14 points from Jon Godbout.
Colby led 40-37 at halftime and led by nine points on three occasions in the second half. Western New England used an 8-1 run with 7:09 left in the game to take the lead for good at 69-67. Thames had all 18 of his points in the second half.
