Colby men's basketball wins consolation game
WILLIMANTIC, Conn. --
Sophomore forward Andrew Jenkins (Gorham/Gorham, Maine) finished with a collegiate-high 25 points in pacing the Colby College men's basketball team to a 77-65 victory over Massachusetts College of Liberal Arts in the consolation game of Eastern Connecticut's Nancy K. Sulinski Memorial Tournament on Saturday.
Jenkins shot 9-for-16 from the field and also led the Mules (1-1) with 11 rebounds. Patrick McGowan (North Attleboro/North Attleboro, Mass.) had 17 points, seven rebounds and three assists for the winners. Nate Dick (Bishop Feehan/North Attleboro, Mass.) had 14 points and nine rebounds.
The Mules scored the first basket of the game and never trailed in the contest. Colby opened up a 14-6 lead on the way to a 39-33 halftime lead. The Mules consistently led by eight to 12 points for most of the second half.
Glenn Mills had 18 points for Mass College (0-2).
