Walsh honored by New England Hockey Writers
WATERVILLE, Maine --
Colby College defenseman Patrick Walsh (Choate Rosemary Hall/Easton, Conn.) was named to the 12-man ECAC East/NESCAC All-Star Team by the New England hockey writers Tuesday.
Walsh, a junior, was one of four defensemen selected. He will be honored at the annual New England Hockey Writers Association banquet on Saturday, April 14 in Saugus, Mass.
Walsh led all Colby defensemen with eight goals and 14 assists for 22 points in helping the Mules finish 14-7-4 in the 2003-04 season. Walsh quickly found his niche on defense after moving back from his regular forward position after injuries depleted Colby's defensive unit early in the season.
Walsh, despite the injuries on defense, helped Colby finish third in the NESCAC in scoring defense (2.64) and the Mules also had one of the top penalty killing units in the conference.
A NESCAC First Team All-Star defenseman, Walsh has 22 goals and 41 assists for 63 points in 71 career games with Colby.
Walsh was one of seven NESCAC players to make the All-East squad.
