Colby men's lacrosse defeats Union in overtime, 8-7
CELEBRATION, Fla. --
Matt Roland (Somers, Conn.) scored 1:10 into overtime to lift the Colby College men's lacrosse team to an 8-7 victory over Union College in non-conference play in Florida on Monday.
Colby (1-1) won the overtime face-off and kept possession until Roland tallied. Roland and Josh Cleaver (Kennett Square, Pa.) each had two goals for the Mules. Ryan Glennon (Exeter, N.H.) added one goal and one assist.
The Mules had a 50-24 shot advantage in the game, but Union's goaltender stopped 37 shots. Matthew LaPaglia (Upper Montclair, N.J.) made 13 stops for Colby.
Sean Murphy (Manchester, Vt.), Ryan Tyler (Wolfeboro, N.H.) and Rory Murphy (Brunswick, Maine) also scored for Colby. Eric Seidel (Durham, N.H.) and Casey Turmelle (Grand Rapids, Mich.) both had one assist.
Colby will play Williams College in a New England Small College Athletic Conference game Wednesday at 4 p.m. in Florida.
