Amherst beats Colby in men's soccer
WATERVILLE, Maine --
Amherst College sophomore forward Adrien de Bontin (Kenilworth, Ill.) scored two first-half goals as the Lord Jeffs held on for a 3-1 victory over Colby College in New England Small College Athletic Conference men's soccer Saturday.
Amherst, ranked sixth in the country, is 7-2-1 overall and 4-1-1 in league play. The Mules drop to 5-4-1 and 1-4-1 in the conference.
Amherst went ahead 2-0 at intermission when de Bontin scored two goals in a span of 1:26 late in the first half. He scored with 5:41 to play off an assist from Josh Holt (Carlisle, Mass.) and then tallied unassisted with 4:15 remaining.
Franklin Perry (Hartford, Conn.) added an insurance goal in the second half for Amherst.
Trevor McWilliams (Millbrook, N.Y.) had the lone goal for Colby.
