Colby track athletes earn NESCAC honors

WATERVILLE, Maine --

Colby College's Xavier Garcia (Stoneham, Mass.) was honored as Most Outstanding Male Performer for the second straight year at the New England Small College Athletic Conference (NESCAC) Outdoor Track and Field Championships.

Garcia earned five all-conference honors for the Colby men, while Karima Ummah (Litchfield, Maine) earned five all-conference honors for the Colby women's team.

Garcia showed he is the fastest man in the NESCAC with victories in the 100-meter dash (10.87) and the 200-meter dash (21.86). He also placed second in the long jump (21-0) and triple jump (46-2.5).

Pat Harner (New York, N.Y.) earned NESCAC honors for taking third in the long jump (20-7.75). Garcia, Harner, Nick Oxenhorn (Queens, N.Y.) and Roy Wilson (New York, N.Y.) earned all-conference honors for placing third in the 400-meter relay in 43.17.

Ummah led the Colby women with all-conference honors in the triple jump (1st place, 39-1), 100-meter hurdles (1st place, 15.33), high jump (3rd place, 5-2.25) and the long jump (3rd place, 17-0.5).

Caroline Minkoff (Haddonfield, N.J.) was the other individual all-conference selection with a third in the hammer throw (147-2).

Ummah, Nora Gouge (New York, N.Y.), Ivica Petrikova (Bratislava, Slovakia) and Samantha Lawson (Wellesley, Mass.) were all named all-conference for placing third in the 400-meter relay (49.95).

Stephanie Agrimanakis (Medfield, Mass.), Theresa Leyro (Hampden, Maine), Jess Minty (Concord, Mass.) and Naomi Wilson (Cheshire, Conn.) placed third and were honored as all-conference in the 1,600-meter relay (4:09.14).
