Bonner, Starr earn softball all-conference honors
WATERVILLE, Maine -
Colby College third baseman Wendy Bonner (Lexington/Lexington, Mass.) and first-year outfielder Miki Starr (Dunbarton, N.H.) were both named to the New England Small College Athletic Conference All-Conference Second Team on Friday.
Bonner, a three-sport athlete at Colby, led the Mules in batting average (.385), total hits (37), RBI (22), slugging percentage (.438), walks (9) and on-base percentage (.440). She was fourth in the NESCAC in batting average and RBI. Bonner made just five errors in 84 chances at third base.
Starr finished third on Colby in batting average (.291) and led the squad in at-bats (103), runs scored (24), doubles (8), triples (2), homers (1, tied), total bases (45), sacrifices (7, tied), and stolen bases (4-for-4, tied). She was second to Bonner in total hits (30), RBI (12) and slugging percentage (.437). Starr, who played right field and did not make an error in 32 chances, was tied for first in NESCAC in runs scored.
Bonner and Starr helped Colby to an 18-11-1 record in 2004.
