Gustavus Adolphus holds off Colby, 2-1
WATERVILLE, Maine --
Kate Deschneau (Mounds View/Arden Hills, Minn.) scored the eventual game-winning goal on the power play in the second period to help 10th-ranked Gustavus Adolphus take a 2-1 victory over Colby College in women's ice hockey Saturday night at Alfond Arena.
Ellen Doyle (Eagan/Eagan, Minn.) scored the first goal for Gustavus (12-3) in the second period. Deschneau tallied at the 11:37 mark for a 2-0 lead.
Colby (2-13) got its goal from co-captain Kate Sweeney (Milton/Milton, Mass.) off an assist from Kit Hickey (Milton Academy/Waltham, Mass.) at 13:34 of the second period.
Lynn Hasday (South Side/Rockville Centre, N.Y.) stopped 29 shots to keep the Mules in the game.
