Colby women's hockey falls in season opener
WILLIAMSTOWN, Mass. --
The Colby College women's hockey team fell behind 2-0 after a period to Williams College and the Ephs pulled away for a 6-2 victory in the season opener for both teams Friday night.
Colby (0-1) will play at Middlebury at 3 p.m. Saturday.
The Ephs (1-0) led 2-0 after the opening period on goals by Wendy Stone and Molly Wasserman.
Colby goalie Lynn Hasday made 12 saves in the second period of her 22 total stops in keeping Williams off the scoreboard. The Ephs got the eventual game-winning goal from Wasserman at 3:37 of the final period for a 3-0 lead.
Michele Barmash scored unassisted at 9:44 and Jennifer McAleer tallied off assists from Sarah Goodrich and Caitlin Hickey at 11:40 to cut the lead to 5-2.
