Third-ranked Valiants stop Colby in women's hockey
WATERVILLE, Maine --
The third-ranked Manhattanville College women's hockey team opened up a 6-2 lead after two periods on the way to a 7-4 victory over Colby College on Saturday night at Alfond Arena.
Seven players scored goals for Manhattanville (6-1-1). The Valiants got a goal and an assist apiece from Darcie Jarvis (Newmarket, Ont.) and Jami Grasby (Stratford, Ont.).
Colby (0-4) got two goals apiece from senior co-captain Kate Sweeney (Milton, Mass.) and first-year player Jennifer McAleer (Dublin, N.H.). Michele Barmash (Kirkland, PQ) added two assists for the Mules, who play a 4:30 p.m. game Sunday against Utica College at Bowdoin. Single assists went to Lindsay Tedeschi (Elkins, N.H.), Kit Hickey (Waltham, Mass.) and Sarah Goodrich (Yarmouth, Maine).
