Colby women's hockey defeats Trinity
HARTFORD, Conn. --
Michele Barmash scored three goals and added one assist in leading the Colby College women's hockey team to a 6-2 victory over Trinity College on Friday night.
Barmash scored in each period for the Mules. Kate Sweeney added two goals and two assists, while Heather DeVito had one goal and one assist.
The Mules led from start to finish after Barmash had the only goal of the opening period at 5:39 off an assist from Christina Dotchin.
DeVito scored off assists from Sweeney and Kit Hickey to give Colby a 2-0 lead at 2:01 of the second period. After a Trinity goal, Barmash put the Mules back up 3-1 and got the eventual game-winning goal at 16:03 from Sweeney and Meghan Barringer.
Trinity cut the lead to 3-2 just 2:41 into the final period, but Sweeney added an unassisted goal at 5:28 for a two-goal margin.
Alex Harris stopped 20 shots for Colby.
