First-year Laura Williamson (Manchester, Conn.)
scored three goals as the Colby Mules romped past the University
of New England, 6-1, in a non-conference women's soccer match.
Classmate Liz Morbeck (Seattle, Wash.) opened the scoring in the sixth
minute with a goal assisted by junior Scarlett Slenker (Great Falls,
Va.).
The Mules put the match out of reach late in the opening frame
when Williamson netted the first goal of her hat trick in the 39th
minute, and sophomore Kaitlin Herlihy (Simsbury, Conn.) scored 1:42
later.
Williamson sandwiched her second and third scores around a goal by
first-year Libba Cox (Guilford, Conn.) in the 73rd minute.
First-year goalkeeper Liza Benson (Orchid, Fla.) needed just two saves
to record her fourth victory in five decisions.
For UNE (3-10-1), which has lost seven consecutive matches, senior
Amanda Brown (Scarborough, Maine) had five saves.
