Colby baseball falls twice to Lawrence
FORT MYERS, Fla. -- The Colby College baseball team scored six runs in the final three innings, but Lawrence University held on for a 7-6 win over the Mules in the opening game of a doubleheader on Thursday.
Lawrence (5-3) took a 12-5 win against Colby (0-8) in the nightcap.
Brian Liberty (Hollis, N.H.) had three hits for Colby in the first game. Andy Carr (Conway, N.H.) added two hits and two RBI, while Nick Spillane (Darien, Conn.) also had two hits. Roddy Ames (Cotuit, Mass.) had a double and two RBI.
In the second game, Colby was tied 3-3 before Lawrence scored nine runs in the bottom of the sixth inning. Spillane, Carr and Liberty all had two hits for Colby. Ames added an RBI triple.
The Mules finish their Florida trip Friday with a 9 a.m. game with Cornell College and a noon start against John Carroll.
