Spillane named NESCAC Rookie of the Year in baseball
WATERVILLE, Maine -- Colby College's Nick Spillane (Darien/Darien, Conn.) was honored as New England Small College Athletic Conference Baseball Rookie of the Year on Wednesday.
Spillane, an outfielder, also made the all-conference team as a second team selection. He was the only first-year player to make the NESCAC first or second team.
Spillane was fourth in the NESCAC in batting average at .418. He led the Mules in batting average, total hits (38), total bases (47), slugging percentage (.516), on-base percentage (.475), and was tied for the team lead in stolen bases (7). Spillane had six doubles, one homer and drove in 17 runs.
