Bonner named field hockey All-American for third time
WATERVILLE, Maine --- Colby College's Wendy Bonner (Lexington/Lexington, Mass.) is a field hockey All-American for the third straight year.
Bonner was named to the 2004 STX/National Field Hockey Coaches Association (NFHCA) Division III All-American second team Wednesday. Bonner had been named to the third team after her sophomore and junior seasons.
Bonner is the only Colby field hockey player to earn All-America honors three times. She led the Mules in scoring with 10 goals and six assists for 26 points despite often being double-teamed. Bonner finished her field hockey career with 44 goals and 14 assists for 102 career points and set school records for career points, goals, and single-season goals (15).
Bonner was named to play in the 2004 National Field Hockey Coaches Association Division III North/South Senior All-Star game, but had to back out because of basketball commitments.
Bonner had already earned New England Small College Athletic Conference first team honors for the third straight season. She also was named to the STX/NFHCA All-New England West Region Team.
Heading into Wednesday's home game with Rivier College, Bonner has 805 points and 621 career rebounds for the Colby women's basketball team. She also led the softball team in hitting last year and was a NESCAC all-conference selection.
