Minty 8th for Colby women's cross country; Bailey 21st for men
NORTH DARTMOUTH, Mass. --- Jess Minty placed eighth and led the Colby College women's cross country team to a fine third-place finish at the University of Massachusetts at Dartmouth Invitational on Saturday.
The Colby women were third out of 33 teams, but finished second among Division III schools. Brown University, a Division I school, won the women's meet.
The Colby men's team placed 10th out of 29 squads.
Minty had a time of 18:56 over the 5-kilometer course. She was fourth overall among Division III runners in the field of 234.
Karina Johnson placed 19th for the Mules in 19:22. Karen Prisby was 24th in 19:29, Elizabeth Turner took 28th in 19:39, Elizabeth Petit finished 31st in 19:41, and Hillary Easter was 33rd in 19:45.
Fred Bailey was 21st overall and 12th among Division III runners for Colby in the field of 232. Jeff Alden was 55th for the Mules in 27:00 over the five-mile course, Dan Vassallo was 65th in 27:15, and Alex Gill was 73rd in 27:22.
