Crews each finish sixth at Textile River Regatta

LOWELL, Mass. -- Colby College's crews each opened the season with sixth-place finishes Sunday at the Textile River Regatta.

The Colby men placed sixth in the open race with a time of 19 minutes, 34 seconds. The Mules were third among collegiate crews in the race behind U.S. Military Academy and Holy Cross. A second Colby boat placed 18th in 20:56.

The Colby women took sixth place in 21:37 in the open eight race. Colby also placed third among collegiate boats behind University of Massachusetts and Worcester Polytechnic Institute.

In club team racing, the Colby women placed 10th in 22:52, while the men had two boats finish 11th in 20:00 and 13th in 20:03.

Changes have been made to the fall crew schedule. Colby will have this weekend off before racing at the New Hampshire Championships on September 16. The Mules also had their CBB Head Race with Bates and Bowdoin pushed back to October 30 at Brunswick.
