Colby crews win Presidents Cup again
GREENE, Maine --- Colby College's crews joined forces for the fifth straight year to win the Colby-Bates-Bowdoin (CBB) Presidents Cup races during competition Sunday near Lewiston.
The Colby men's and women's varsity 8 crews each took victories over their Maine rivals. The Colby men had a time of 6 minutes, 8.4 seconds over 2,000 meters to beat Bowdoin (6:15.7) and Bates (6:17.5). The women cruised to a winning time of 6:46.3 in beating Bates (6:48.9) and Bowdoin (7:06.9).
Colby won six of the nine races on the day. The Colby second varsity boat (jayvee) had a winning time of 6:13.7 over Bates (6:41.2). The Mules' second women's boat also beat Bates with a winning time of 7:12.1 to the Bobcats' 7:21.6.
In novice racing, the Colby women had a time of 7:08.0 to easily beat Bowdoin (7:29.5) and Bates (7:43.6). Bates' men had a time of 6:36.0 to runner-up Colby's 6:43.2.
Colby also won the women's novice 4 race in 7:55.4 over Bates (8:11.4) and Bowdoin (8:17.9). Bowdoin's women won the varsity 4 and Bates took the men's varsity 4 race.
