Colby women's varsity 8 crew beats Vermont, New Hampshire
DURHAM, N.H. --- The ninth-ranked Colby College women's varsity 8 boat took easy victories over University of Vermont and University of New Hampshire in racing Saturday.
Colby had a time of 5:33.0 to blow away the finishes by Vermont (5:54.1) and New Hampshire (5:58.0).
New Hampshire won the men's varsity 8 racing with a time of 5:04.2 to Colby's 5:05.1. A second Colby boat finished third in 5:43.8.
Vermont won the women's jayvee race in 6:11.1 and Colby took second place in 6:17.5 and was followed in by New Hampshire in 6:18.0. New Hampshire won the men's jayvee race in 6:16.6 and the Colby men were second in 6:25.0.
The Colby women dominated the novice 8 racing with a victory in 6:33.0 over Vermont (6:34.5) in the winner's bracket race. In the loser's bracket race, the Colby 'B' team had a time of 6:57.0 to edge New Hampshire (7:00.6). The first Colby novice team had earlier taken an easy victory over New Hampshire by more than 34 seconds (6:00.6 to 6:34.7). Vermont (6:20.5) won the other earlier race over Colby 'B' (6:34.6).
The Colby men's novice team finished third in 5:57.1 behind two New Hampshire boats.
In women's novice 4 racing, New Hampshire (7:16.3) took a win over Colby (7:35.9).
