Golf team competes at NESCAC Championships
MIDDLEBURY, Vt. -- Eric Legere shot a two-day total of 169 for the Colby College golf team at the New England Small College Athletic Conference Men's Golf Championships at Middlebury College on Saturday and Sunday.
Legere shot an 87 in Saturday's opening round and had a solid score of 82 on Sunday. Matt Aschaffenburg opened with a 95 for Colby, but came back strong with an 81 in Sunday's round. Two of the top four finishers at the meet had rounds of 81 on Sunday.
Matt Wahl tied Aschaffenburg with a two-day total of 176. Wahl tied Legere with the best Colby score Saturday with an 87 and added an 89 Sunday. David Salmon (89-95) and Nick Spillane (99-89) also golfed for the Mules.
Colby finished in 10th place in the 10-team field with a score of 699. Williams College won the meet for the fourth time in five years with a score of 630. Nick Ryder of Williams took medallist honors with an 80 and a 74 for a two-day total of 154.
