Football assistant coach Lund named 'hot' coach by magazine
WATERVILLE, Maine --- Colby College assistant football coach Bill Lund was named by American Football Monthly as one of 10 'hot' coaches in NCAA Division III football.
Lund, who will start his fifth season this fall as an assistant at Colby, recently attended the NCAA Expert Coaching Program. Lund was one of 10 coaches --- and the only Division III coach --- to attend the program at the NCAA national headquarters in Indianapolis.
Lund is the linebacker coach and special teams coordinator for Colby. Prior to coming to Colby, Lund spent three years as linebacker coach, special teams coordinator, and recruiting coordinator at Saint Anselm College.
A Wisconsin native, Lund graduated from Lawrence University. He was a four-year letterman and three-year starter at Lawrence, playing both sides of the ball at linebacker and center. Lund received the Most Dedicated Senior Athlete award at Lawrence and earned all-conference honors at center while helping the team lead Division III in rushing in 1995.
Lund played semi-pro football with the Granite State Warriors of the Eastern Football League from 1996 to 1998. He played linebacker and served as defensive coordinator for the team during their national semifinal season in 1996.
Lund appears in American Football Monthly's August issue. The magazine's research staff selected 80 'hot' coaches from eight different levels of football from high school to the NFL.
