TRINITY MEN'S BASKETBALL BEATS COLBY IN OVERTIME
WATERVILLE, Maine --- John Halas (White Plains, N.Y.) hit a key 3-point
shot in overtime to break a 66-66 tie and send Trinity College on to a
76-68 victory over Colby College in New England Small College Athletic
Conference men's basketball Friday night at Wadsworth Gymnasium.
Tyler Rhoten (Ridgewood, N.J.), Trinity's leading scorer this season,
fouled out with 2:07 left in overtime and the score tied 66-66. But Halas
hit his big 3-point shot moments later and Robert Taylor III (Dorchester,
Mass.) hit a lay-up to give the Bantams a 71-66 margin.
Taylor III finished with 18 points and 11 rebounds for Trinity (13-4, 3-1
NESCAC). Rhoten had 15 of his 17 points in the second half, while Patrick
Hasiuk (Enfield, Conn.) had 13 points and six rebounds. Halas had 15
pionts, nine rebounds, four assists and four steals.
Drew Cohen (Briarcliff Manor, N.Y.) had 23 points, 17 rebounds and four
blocked shots for Colby (10-5, 1-3 NESCAC). Michael Westbrooks (Dublin,
Ireland) had 19 points and 10 rebounds, while Nick Farrell (Kennebunk,
Maine) had nine assists.
