Cohen powers Colby men past Widener
BOSTON, Mass. --- Drew Cohen scored 29 points, pulled down 16 rebounds, and blocked seven shots in leading the Colby College men's basketball team to a 95-64 season-opening win over Widener University in the opening round of the Emmanuel Tournament on Saturday night.
Cohen, who came on strong at the end of last year when he received more playing time, was 14-for-20 from the field and had nine offensive rebounds.
Patrick McGowan had 18 points and six assists, while Jared Cushman scored nine points and had seven rebounds. Mike Rutherford finished with nine points, Tom Nale was 4-for-4 from the field and had eight points, while Michael Westbrooks had five assists and six rebounds.
Colby led 35-30 at halftime before exploding for 60 points in the second half. The Mules shot 25-for-32 (78 percent) in the second half and were 58.8 percent for the game.
Colby will play in Sunday's title game at 3 p.m.
