Colby men earn victory over Newbury

WATERVILLE, Maine --- WATERVILLE, Maine --- Michael Westbrooks (Berkshire School/Dublin, Ireland) had 18 points and 11 rebounds and teammate Patrick McGowan (North Attleboro/North Attleboro, Mass.) finished with 20 points, eight rebounds and six assists in leading Colby College to an 80-42 victory over Newbury College in non-conference men's basketball Tuesday night.

McGowan was 8-for-12 from the field, while Westbrooks shot 9-for-14. Colby (3-1) led 40-17 at halftime as Westbrooks had 10 points and nine rebounds at the break. The Mules held Newbury (0-3) to 24 percent shooting for the game and had a 55-26 rebounding margin.

Jared Cushman (Cony/Augusta, Maine) had nine points and four rebounds for Colby. Jamie Snyder-Fair (Mohawk Trail Res./Leverette, Mass.) added seven points and Nick Farrell (Aspen/Kennebunk, Maine) dished six assists. Arch Mitchell (Framingham/Sudbury, Mass.) paced Newbury with 20 points. Walky Magliore (Waltham/Waltham, Mass.) had nine points.

Colby returns to action Saturday at 3 p.m. at Maine-Farmington before playing host to Thomas College at 3 p.m. Sunday.
