McGOWAN, COHEN LEAD COLBY MEN'S BASKETBALL PAST MAINE MARITIME
WATERVILLE, Maine --- Patrick McGowan (North Attleboro, Mass.) and Drew
Cohen (Briarcliff Manor, N.Y.) both had 20 points as the Colby College
men's basketball team cruised to an easy 97-68 non-league win over Maine
Maritime Academy on Tuesday night at Wadsworth Gymnasium.
The Mules finish the regular season at 14-7, while Maine Maritime falls to
2-18. Colby, the seventh seed, will play at second-seeded Tufts University
at 3 p.m. Saturday in a quarterfinal game of the New England Small College
Athletic Conference playoffs.
Colby shot 12-for-22 from 3-point range for the game and shot 60 percent
from the field in the first half in taking a 54-36 lead at the break.
McGowan shot 8-for-11 from the field and also had four rebounds, four
assists and four steals. Cohen was 9-for-12 from the field in just 14
minutes of action.
Michael Westbrooks (Dublin, Ireland) added 11 points, six rebounds and five
assists. Nick Farrell (Aspen, Colo.) had 10 points, five rebounds and five
assists. Andrew Jenkins (Goroham, Maine) went 3-for-3 from 3-point range
for nine points and Mark Gaudet (Bingham, Maine) had nine points on 3-for-5
shooting from behind the arc and he also had four boards in eight minutes
of play.
Brandon Hall (Dover-Foxcroft, Maine) led Maine Maritime with 22 points and
seven rebounds. Neil Stewart (Rangeley, Maine) added 14 points.
