Colby men's basketball stops Wesleyan, 63-49
WATERVILLE, Maine --- The Colby College men's basketball team held Wesleyan
University to just 18 points in the second half to turn a halftime deficit
into a victory in the Mules' 63-49 win in New England Small College
Athletic Conference play Saturday at Wadsworth Gymnasium.
Wesleyan (12-10, 3-5 NESCAC) led 31-28 at halftime, but the Mules shot 63
percent from the field in the second half to pull away for the decisive
win. The Cardinals had just five points in the first 12 minutes of the
second half and the Mules (12-6, 3-4 NESCAC) led by as much as 21 points.
Drew Cohen (Briarcliff Manor, N.Y.) had 18 points on 8-for-12 shooting and
had four blocked shots. Patrick McGowan (North Attleboro, Mass.) added 12
points, while Andrew Jenkins went 5-for-6 from the field for 11 points.
Nick Farrell (Aspen, Colo.) added 11 points and five assists, and Michael
Westbrooks (Dublin, Ireland) pulled down eight rebounds and had four assists.
Doug Rubenstein (South Orange, N.J.) led Wesleyan with 11 points, including
a 3-for-5 effort from 3-point range. Will Griffin (Chevy Chase, Md.) had
nine points and Robert Kelly (Springfield, Mass.) had eight point and eight
rebounds.
