Women's hockey player McAleer earns national honor
WATERVILLE, Maine --- Colby College forward Jennifer McAleer (Lawrence Academy/Dublin, N.H.) was named the U.S. College Hockey Online/ITECH Women's Division III Offensive Player of the Week for the week ending November 28.
McAleer, a sophomore, had two goals and one assist to power the Mules to a 4-0 victory over University of Southern Maine last Tuesday. Colby had lost twice to Southern Maine last year, but the Mules used McAleer's offense and fine defense to pull out the victory.
The points were the first of the season for McAleer and she has six goals and four assists for 10 career points. McAleer had four goals and three assists last year in her first year at Colby.
The Mules are off to a 2-1 start heading into two difficult games to end the semester. Colby plays host to second-ranked Plattsburgh State at 7 p.m. Friday and then visits seventh-ranked Bowdoin College on December 11 at 1 p.m.
