McGowan earns national honor from D3hoops.com

WATERVILLE, Maine --- Colby College men's basketball player Patrick McGowan (North Attleboro/North Attleboro, Mass.) was one of five Division III basketball players to be named to the D3hoops.com National Team of the Week for the week ending December 5.

McGowan has helped Colby to a 7-1 start to the season. The 6-foot senior guard is averaging 16.1 points, 5.9 rebounds, 3.4 assists and 2.8 steals per game. McGowan is shooting 53 percent from the field (48-for-91), 44 percent from 3-point range (21-for-48) and 92 percent from the foul line (12-for-13).

McGowan averaged 19.7 points, 8.0 rebounds, 3.3 assists and 2.0 steals in Colby's 3-0 record for the week he was honored. He shot 64 percent from the field and was 57 percent from 3-point range in the three contests. McGowan's best effort was 27 points, eight rebounds, four assists and no turnovers in a 73-71 overtime win against Maine-Farmington on December 4.

McGowan, who also earned D3hoops.com Team of the Week honors last year, ranks second in steals, fifth in scoring, eighth in assists, eighth in 3-point percentage and ninth in field goal percentage in the New England Small College Athletic Conference (NESCAC).

The Mules have won five straight games heading into the team's trip to Phoenix at the end of December. Colby plays Neumann College on December 28 and also meets Anderson University on December 30.
