Colby men's hockey falls to Babson, 3-1
WATERVILLE, Maine --- James LaFreniere (Southborough, Mass.) and Johnny Kim
(Brookville, Md.) scored goals in the third period to help Babson College
take a 3-1 win against Colby College in men's hockey at Alfond Arena on
Saturday.
Babson (7-4-1) fell behind 1-0 when Colby's Nick Bayley (Cambridge,
Ontario) scored his 10th goal of the season with 53 seconds left in the
opening period.
The Beavers tied the game at 1-1 when Nate Smith (Madrid, N.Y.) tallied at
6:56 of the second period.
LaFreniere got the eventual game-winning goal off a pass from Kim at 2:44
of the third period. Kim sealed the victory with 1:03 remaining off an
assist from LaFreniere.
John Sterbling (Farmington Hills, Mich.) stopped 20 shots for Babson, while
Chris Ries (Pittsburgh, Pa.) made 23 saves for Colby (7-2-1), which had an
eight-game unbeaten streak snapped with the loss.
