Colby men's hockey rips Salve Regina
BRUNSWICK, Maine --- The Colby College men's hockey team scored six goals in the second period on their way to a 11-0 win over Salve Regina at the Bowdoin-Colby Faceoff Classic Saturday in Brunswick.
It took the Mules just 1:53 to get on the scoreboard as Jared Gordon redirected a shot in front of the crease for a 1-0 Colby advantage. The Mules doubled their lead at 9:47 when Jason Weigel put home a rebound to make it 2-0.
Just over two minutes into the second period, Barry Brown one-timed a pass from Gordon to increase the Colby lead to 3-0. At 3:47 in the second, Gordon tallied again at 3:47 for the Mules before Adam Carlson found the back of the net at 8:34 to make it 5-0. T.J. Kelley scored his first career goal just moments later to increase the lead to six goals at 8:51. A Colby powerplay goal at 10:41 from Arthur Fritch increased the edge to 7-0. Jake Bayley scored the eighth goal at 17:25 to close out the second frame.
Kevin Lyons, Weigel, Greg Osbourne scored third-period goals for the Mules. Ken Pitter made 13 saves in goal for Colby.
