Bowdoin men's lacrosse downs Colby

WATERVILLE, Maine --- Bowdoin College scored four goals in a row to start the fourth quarter to turn a tight 7-6 game after three quarters into an 11-7 victory over Colby College in New England Small College Athletic Conference play Tuesday night on Bill Alfond Field.

Connor Fitzgerald (Hingham, Mass.) had three goals and three assists for 11th-ranked Bowdoin (8-3, 5-1 NESCAC). Andy Nelson (Marston Mills, Mass.) added a pair of goals for the Polar Bears.

Bowdoin took a 4-0 lead after a quarter, but the Mules (2-8, 0-6) outscored the Polar Bears by a 5-3 margin in the second quarter to make the score 7-5 at halftime. Colby's Adam Kirk (Port Jefferson Station, N.Y.) scored the only goal of the third period to make the score 7-6 heading into the final 15 minutes.

Bowdoin scored three goals in the first seven minutes of play in the fourth quarter and four in a row to take control of the contest.

Charles Legg (Baltimore, Md.) made nine saves for the Polar Bears, while Jeff Miller (Marshfield, Mass.) made 10 stops.

Kirk finished with three goals for Colby and teammate Eric Seidel (Durham, N.H.) had two goals.
