Fourth-ranked Middlebury men's lacrosse beats Colby
HARTFORD, Conn. --- Jim Cabrera had three goals and two assists to lead the fourth-ranked Middlebury College men's lacrosse team to a 14-3 win against Colby College in New England Small College Athletic Conference play Sunday at Trinity College.
Middlebury (10-1, 7-0 NESCAC) led 5-0 after one quarter and 8-3 at halftime. Neither team managed a goal in the third quarter, but the Panthers exploded for all six goals in the final 15 minutes.
Nick Bastis added three goals and one assist for Middlebury.
Ryan Scott, Adam Kirk and Dana McNally had goals for Colby (2-10, 0-8). Zach Goodnough and Dan Schupack added assists.
Alex Palmisano started in the nets and made six saves before being relieved by Matt Levy (one save) and Ned Courtemanche (one save). Jeff Miller stopped 16 shots for Colby.
The Mules will play host to Southern Maine in a non-conference game Tuesday at 4:30 p.m. Middlebury is at Williams in a league game this Wednesday at 4:15 p.m.
