Amherst men's soccer takes win over Colby
AMHERST, Mass. --- Rookie John Kneeland (Holden, Mass.) scored his first career goal 15:02 into the opening half and sophomore Mike Wohl (Northampton, Mass.) added an insurance tally a little over 20 minutes later as the Amherst College men's soccer team took a 2-0 win over visiting NESCAC foe Colby College on Saturday. Junior Greg Lockwood (Vancouver, WA) and senior Dan Glenn (Berkeley, MA) combined in goal for Amherst's fifth shutout of the season.
Kneeland notched the game winner when he picked off a Colby pass and planted a shot into the top right corner of the net. Wohl then cemented the victory with his conference-leading ninth goal of the season, courtesy of a nifty feed from junior midfielder Jay Kloppenberg (Wellesley, MA).
Colby senior netminder Brian Davidson (Needham, MA) tallied four saves in the loss as the Mules fell to 3-5-2 (1-5-1 NESCAC).
