COLBY MEN'S SOCCER TIES MIDDLEBURY, 2-2
WATERVILLE, Maine --- Monty Hankin (Canandaigua, N.Y.) tied the game for
Colby College with about 30 minutes left in regulation and the game stayed
that way in a 2-2 overtime game with Middlebury College in New England
Small College Athletic Conference men's soccer Saturday.
Middlebury (5-0-1, 3-0-1 NESCAC) had not allowed a goal in three league
victories and had given up just one goal in five games.
The Panthers scored first when J.B. Gerber (Davis, Calif.) tallied in the
10th minute off an assist from Winston Rains (Grapevine, Texas).
Colby made it a 1-1 game at halftime when captain Ryan Boccuzzi (Storrs,
Conn.) scored off a direct kick in the 42nd minute.
Kellen Florio (Gilford, N.H.) put the Panthers up 2-1 with a goal about
nine minutes into the second half off a pass from Matt Haddad (Longmeadow,
Mass.).
Hankin tallied about five minutes later off a pass from Daniel Kiernan
(Brookline, Mass.).
Brian Davidson (Needham, Mass.) was credited with seven stops for Colby
(2-2-2, 1-2-1 NESCAC), while Craig Hirsh (Verona, N.J.) made six saves for
