Colby men's soccer falls in final game
LEWISTON, Maine --- Terence OāConnell scored his team leading 10th goal of the season to give Bates a 1-0 win over Colby in the final menās soccer game of the New England Small College Athletic Conference schedule for both teams on Russell Street Field on Saturday afternoon.
Bates tied the school record for wins, improving to 10-3-1, 5-3-1 NESCAC. The Bobcats earned the No. 5 seed in the NESCAC Championship and will face fourth-seeded Wesleyan at noon on Sunday in Middletown, Conn. While Wesleyan and Bates had identical conference records, the Cardinals owned the tiebreaker with a 1-2-1 record vs. teams in the top four in the NESCAC standings. Colby finished the season 5-7-1, 1-7-1.
O'Connell '06 (Greenwich, Conn.) scored off an assist from Ithai Schori less than three minutes into the second half. Bates had a 10-5 shot advantage.
James Kenly '05 (Boxford, Mass.) made two saves to record his second shutout of the season, while Josh Kahane made five saves for Colby.
