(courtesy of Tufts sports information)
SOMERVILLE, Mass. ---- Junior Mike Lingenfelter served a free kick to classmate Todd Gilbert whose header in the 65th minute was the games only goal as Tufts defeated Colby in a NESCAC mens soccer match on Saturday.
Both teams had quality chances throughout, none better than Jumbo junior Mike Guiglis penalty kick in the 16th minute. Colby senior keeper Brian Davidson (Needham, Mass.) was equal to the task, diving right to stop the shot. Both keepers played well, with Tufts senior Matt Sullivan making 10 saves to earn the second shutout of his career. Davidson finished with nine stops.
Colby's best pressure came as the match wound down under 20 minutes, but they were unable to capitalize and Gilbert's goal stood as the winner.
