Colby has 22 named to NESCAC Fall All-Academic Team
WATERVILLE, Maine --- Colby College had 22 fall athletes named to the New England Small College Athletic Conference (NESCAC) Fall All-Academic Team.
The NESCAC has a new format for selecting all-academic honors. In the past, just 10 athletes (five men and five women) were named to the team. The new requirements state that a student-athlete must have reached junior academic standing and be a varsity letter winner with a cumulative grade point average of at least 3.35.
Colby's members on the team included: junior volleyball player Kaitlin Adams (Athol, Mass.), junior golfer Matt Aschaffenburg (Sharon, Mass.), senior men's soccer player Ryan Boccuzzi (Storrs, Conn.), junior football player Mike Bracco (N. Hampton, N.H.), junior football player Dave Civitello (Hamden, Conn.), junior football player Dan Giuliani (Mercer Island, Wash.), junior men's soccer player Monty Hankin (Canandaigua, N.Y.), senior football player Wayne Harrington (Rockland, Mass.), junior women's soccer player Kaitlin Herlihy (Simsbury, Conn.), senior women's cross country member Karina Johnson (Tolland, Conn.), senior football player Steve Kasperski (Naperville, Ill.), senior women's cross country member Torrey Kulow (Weston, Mass.), junior women's soccer player Kara McCabe (Watertown, Conn.), junior women's cross country member Jess Minty (Concord, Mass.), senior field hockey player Melissa Mullen (Andover, N.J.), senior men's soccer player Aaron Poplack (Houston, Texas), senior field hockey player Kristin Putnam (Oakland, Maine), junior golfer David Salmon (Sherborn, Mass.), senior golfer Chris Surprenant (New Orleans, La.), junior field hockey player Emily Tull (Duxbury, Mass.), senior women's soccer player Amanda Walsh (Salem, Mass.) and senior football player Tom Wilson (Bellevue, Wash.).
Mullen made the fall team for the third straight year. Harrington, Johnson, Kasperski, McCabe, Poplack and Wilson also made the team for Colby last year.
