NICKERSON THIRD IN SLALOM FOR COLBY MEN'S ALPINE TEAM
SMUGGLERS NOTCH, Vt. --- Colby College's Warner Nickerson (Tilton, N.H.)
placed third in the slalom at the Saint Michael's College Winter Carnival
on Saturday.
Nickerson had runs of 44.20 and 43.38 for a total time of 1:27.58.
Dartmouth's David Chodounskey won the competition in 1:26.60, including a
42.54 second run.
First-year skier Jody Centauro (Beaconsfield, Quebec) was 12th for Colby in
1:30.89. Charlie Reed (Park City, Utah) placed 25th in 1:40.18 in helping
the men's alpine team place fourth out of 11 teams in the slalom.
The Colby women placed sixth in the slalom behind a 12th-place finish by
Abbi Lathrop (North Conway, N.H.) in 1:34.65. Nicole Wessen (Rockland,
Mass.) was 21st in 1:36.22 and Alissa Consenstein (Syracuse, N.Y.) was 28th
in 1:40.92.
The men's Nordic team placed seventh in the 10-kilometer pursuit
competition. Kris Dobie (Walpole, N.H.) was 20th in 59:23.5 and Fred Bailey
(Andover, Maine) took 23rd in 59:32.4.
Hillary Easter (Jay, Maine) was 35th for the Colby women's Nordic team in
the 5-kilometer pursuit. The Mules placed ninth out of 11 teams.
Colby finished sixth out of 13 teams in the overall meet with 658.5 points.
