COLBY SWIM TEAMS BOTH WIN CBB TITLES
BRUNSWICK, Maine -- The Colby College swimming teams each won Colby-Bates-Bowdoin (CBB) titles with easy victories over Bowdoin College on Saturday.
The Mules, who had already beaten Bates in both meets earlier this year, won 160-131 in the women's meet and 180-102 in the men's meet.
Kelly Norsworthy (West Hartford, Conn.) bettered her own school record in the 200 breaststroke with a time of 2:26.45. The clocking was an NCAA 'B' cut qualifying time as was her win in the 100 breaststroke (1:07.07).
Beth Foxwell (Indianapolis, Ind.) took the 100 backstroke (1:02.54) and 200 backstroke (2:18.25), Laura Miller (Manchester, N.H.) captured the 100 butterfly (59.09) and 200 butterfly (2:12.71), and Meg Vallaly (Lake Forest, Ill.) took the 50 freestyle (24.77) and 500 freestyle (5:14.03) for the Colby women (5-4).
Jabez Dewey (Worcester, Mass.) had an NCAA 'B' cut time of 52.86 in winning the 100 backstroke and he also won the 200 backstroke (2:00.69) for the Colby men (4-5).
Evan Mullin (Winnetka, Ill.) took the 200 freestyle (1:47.44) and 500 freestyle (4:54.06), Patrick Dean won the 100 breaststroke (1:02.47) and 200 breaststroke (2:15.23), and Tom Ireland (Exeter, N.H.) won the 50 freestyle (21.69) and 100 freestyle (49.51). Mitch Bartkiewicz (Peabody, Mass.) took the 400 individual medley (4:27.72) and Mike Finnerty (Garden City, N.Y.) was a winner in the 1000 freestyle (10:37.65).
