COLBY VOLLEYBALL WINS BATES INVITATIONAL
LEWISTON, Maine --- Cait Cleaver earned tournament Most Valuable Player
honors after coming up with 21 kills and eight defensive digs to lead
Colby to a victory over Plymouth State in the championship match of the
Bates Invitational on Saturday.
Colby (14-4) went 4-0 at the tourney with two wins against Plymouth State
and two against Johnson & Wales.
The Mules won 30-27, 30-19, 30-26 over Plymouth State in the title match.
Megan Devlin added 13 kills and 13 digs, while all-tournament team member
Kaitlin Adams had six kills.
In a 30-21, 30-17, 30-13 semifinal match win over Johnson & Wales, Adams
led the way with 12 kills. Cleaver had 10 kills and 20 digs, Devlin added
nine kills and 16 digs, Cassie Sancartier had 30 assists, and Julie Hike
added seven kills and four blocks.
The Mules took a tough 30-28, 30-27, 30-32, 30-27 win against Plymouth
State on Friday night. Devlin had 22 kills and 23 digs to lead the way.
Cleaver added 19 kills, 29 digs, and five blocks. Adams finished with
eight kills, while Sancartier had 52 assists and 19 digs.
Devlin had 11 kills and 12 digs in Friday's 30-21, 30-19, 30-16 win
against Johnson & Wales.
