Walsh on two more all-star teams; Fritch on rookie team
WATERVILLE, Maine --- Colby College senior defensemen Patrick Walsh (Choate Rosemary Hall/Easton, Conn.) was named to the U.S. College Hockey Online All-USCHO team and also earned honors from the New England Hockey Writers.
Walsh was named as a defensemen to the USCHO East second team. He also was one of four defensemen on the ECAC East/NESCAC All-Star Team selected by the New England Hockey Writers.
Colby teammate Arthur Fritch (St. Sebastian's/South Boston, Mass.) was named to the USCHO.com East All-Rookie Team as a defensemen.
Walsh had earlier earned first team All-American honors by the American Hockey Coaches Association. Walsh earned New England Small College Athletic Conference (NESCAC) first team honors after his junior and senior seasons. Walsh also was one of six finalists this season for the Joe Concannon College Hockey Award, which recognizes New England's best American-born Division II-III hockey player.
Walsh was the 11th Colby player to earn All-America honors. Walsh led all of Division III in power play goals by a defensemen with nine. He led the NESCAC and was tied for 10th in power play goals. Walsh's 11 goals and 14 assists for 25 points ranked him in a tie for 11th nationally in scoring by a defensemen.
In 98 career games at Colby, Walsh had 33 goals and 55 assists for 88 points. Walsh helped the Mules to a 62-28-10 record in his four seasons at Colby.
Fritch led Colby in assists in his first year with the Mules. He finished with four goals and 22 assists for 26 points and ranked fourth on the team in scoring and first among defensemen. Fritch ranked first in Division III among first-year players in points per game by a defensemen (1.04) and was 10th overall.
Fritch was one of just four defensemen in the top 20 nationally in assists per game (0.88).
