Bates women's basketball beats Colby in NESCAC game
WATERVILLE, Maine --- Olivia Zurek (Arlington/Arlington, Mass.) had 22
points, seven rebounds and four assists to lead the Bates College women's
basketball team to a 75-56 win over Colby College in New England Small
College Athletic Conference play Saturday.
Zurek shot 11-for-14 from the field and was 8-for-8 from the field in the
opening half to help Bates (13-1, 1-1 NESCAC) open up a 49-28 lead at the
break.
Meg Coffin (Phillips Andover/Westford, Mass.) added 16 points on 8-for-8
shooting and finished with four steals for the Bobcats. Heather Taylor
(Lincoln Academy/Nobleboro, Maine) had six points and seven assists, while
Kyla Decato (Oxford Hills/Paris, Maine) had nine points.
Wendy Bonner (Lexington/Lexington, Mass.) finished with 19 points and 10
rebounds for Colby (5-8, 1-1 NESCAC). Bonner shot 6-for-7 from the field
and 7-for-9 from the foul line. Kathleen Nicholson (Kimball
Union/Tuftonboro, N.H.) added 10 points and three assists, while Katie
McCabe (Taft School/Watertown, Conn.) had eight points and six rebounds.
