MAINE-FARMINGTON WOMEN'S BASKETBALL TOPS COLBY
FARMINGTON, Maine --- University of Maine at Farmington held Colby College to just 17 points in the opening half on the way to a 55-39 victory in non-conference women's basketball Tuesday night.
Melissa Sawyer had 13 points and five rebounds to lead UMF (11-4). Karen Sirois added 10 points and five assists, while Brandi Rideout finished with nine points and five rebounds.
Colby (5-11) held UMF to just 32 percent shooting from the field, but the Mules also struggled at just a 26 percent clip.
Wendy Bonner led Colby with 15 points and 11 rebounds. Kathleen Nicholson had five assists and 12 rebounds, Tanya Rosbash had nine points and six rebounds, and Regina Wohl had nine points and five rebounds.
Colby plays at Trinity at 7:30 p.m. Friday.
