Trinity beats Colby women's basketball
HARTFORD, Conn. --- Senior guard Jessica Baker (Middlebury, Conn.) scored all
16 of her points in the second half to lead the Trinity College Bantams to
a 60-44 victory over the visiting Colby College White Mules in New England
Small College Athletic Conference (NESCAC) women's basketball action this
evening at Oosting Gymnasium.
Trinity improves to 9-7 overall and 2-2 in the NESCAC with its second
straight win, while the White Mules fall to 5-12 overall and 1-3 in the league.
Trinity opened the second half with a 33-4 run to turn a 32-18 deficit at
the half into a 51-36 lead with five minutes left in the game. The Bantams
shot 58.3 percent from the three-point range (7-12) in the second half,
after making just two treys in the first half in nine attempts.
Baker, who made four three-pointers in five tries in the second half, also
had four assists, and three steals, while sophomore forward Leigh Melanson
(Woburn, Mass.) contributed 16 points and seven rebounds, and classmate
Sarah Cox (Norwell, Mass.) added 15 points, eight boards, and four assists.
Sophomore guard Regina Wohl (Westbrook, Maine) paced the White Mules with
10 points.
