WELLESLEY, HAMILTON WIN GAMES AT COLBY TIP-OFF TOURNEY
WATERVILLE, Maine --- Alexandra Allukian (Boston Latin/Boston, Mass.) had a
game-high 29 points on 10-of-15 shooting to lead the Wellesley College
women's basketball team to a 75-63 victory over Colby College in the first
round of the Colby Tip-Off Tournament on Friday night.
In the other game, Hamilton College darted out to a 40-20 halftime lead on
the way to a 63-42 victory over St. Joseph's (Maine) College.
Sefi Adasi (Georgetown Visitation/Rockville, Md.) added a double-double
with 12 points and 16 rebounds for Wellesley in the first game. Erin
Johnson (Westhampton/Center Monches, N.Y.) added 12 points and Laura
Weslander (Cretin-Denham/Medota Heights, Minn.) had 11. Catherine Romasco
(Pomfret School/Sutton, Mass.) had seven points and seven assists.
Wellesley (1-0) only led 35-32 at halftime, but quickly pulled away for a
double-digit lead in the opening five minutes of the second half.
Wendy Bonner (Lexington/Lexington, Mass.) had 15 points and 14 rebounds for
Colby (0-1). Tanya Rosbash (Newton South/Newton, Mass.) added 11 points and
Regina Wohl (Westbrook/Westbrook, Maine) had nine points and five assists
for the Mules.
Tricia Czeski (Amsterdam/Amsterdam, N.Y.) had 18 points to lead Hamilton
past St. Joseph's. Jessica Barrows (Old Saybrook/Old Saybrook, Conn.) had
13 points, Alicia Giglio (Thomas Proctor/Utica, N.Y.) had 10 points, and
Pumla Sathula (St. Anne's/Charlottesville, Va.) had eight points and 10
rebounds.
Megan Tetrault (Deering/Portland, Maine) had 12 points for St. Joseph's.
Wellesley will play in the title game against Hamilton College at 3 p.m.
Saturday. The consolation game begins at 1 p.m.
