EMMANUEL WOMEN'S BASKETBALL BEATS COLBY (Yosinoff wins 500th game for Emmanuel)
WATERVILLE, Maine --- Emmanuel head coach Andy Yosinoff became just the
fifth NCAA Division III women's basketball coach to reach 500 career
victories as his Saints took a 77-66 non-conference win over Colby College
on Saturday at Wadsworth Gymnasium.
Yosinoff is 500-176 in his 28th year at Emmanuel. He ranks fifth all-time
among Division III women's coaches in career victories, according to the
NCAA women's basketball record book.
Yosinoff's team had to fight hard for the victory. Colby (3-3) led 33-30
at halftime and kept the game close for much of the second half.
Alyssa McCoy (Washington, D.C.) had 17 points on 8-for-11 shooting for
Emmanuel (5-0). Franessa Green (Boston, Mass.) added 15 points, six
rebounds, five assists and five steals. Molly Forbes (North Berwick,
Maine) finished with 11 points and five assists, while LaTeisha Johnson
(Dorchester, Mass.) had 11 points.
Colby first-year guard Kathleen Nicholson (Tuftonboro, N.H.) led the Mules
with 18 points and eight rebounds. Tanya Rosbash (Newton, Mass.) had 15
points, while senior captain Wendy Bonner (Lexington, Mass.) had 14
points, nine rebounds, five steals and four assists.
