Bonner gets 1000th career point, but women's basketball falls

WATERVILLE, Maine --- Colby College senior captain Wendy Bonner (Lexington,

Mass.) scored her 1,000th career point, but Wesleyan University took a

57-42 victory over the Mules in New England Small College Athletic

Conference women's basketball Saturday.

Bonner got her 1,000th point on a 3-point play with 10:53 to go in the

game. She now has 1,005 points and 756 career rebounds. Bonner is a

three-time All-American in field hockey and also stars on the softball team

at Colby.

Meghan Robinson had 19 points, eight rebounds and five assists to lead

Wesleyan (18-3, 5-3 NESCAC). Hannah Stubbs added 12 points and seven rebounds.

Bonner had 17 points and 11 rebounds to lead Colby (5-15, 1-6 NESCAC),

which is playing with just eight players because of major injury problems

on the team. Katie McCabe added 11 points and 10 rebounds for the Mules.
